In three days we have been there, in the Hungarian capital Budapest. All employees with their respective and two babies. On Friday we went early early from Linkoping to Landvetter and flew with Malev. When we arrived to Budapest waited quite a long bus tour with a guide. What struck me then was how worn the town was. It really looked like an old Eastern Bloc ..
The hotel we stayed at is a four star hotel named Zara. It was located activity superstore in a grand building and was surrounded by other grand yet worn out buildings. It really turned off when you've been in Budapest for a few days is how segregated the city is. One moment you walk on streets with dilapidated old buildings, smelling dirt from old diesel engines and where it sits homeless and begging. Additional time has been found in a large grand mall where julsmyckats to thousands and thronging with wealthy people. It is like opening activity superstore the door to another world. Very strange.
On Friday we had lunch at the hotel restaurant. Afterwards it was free play and Fredrik and I went to a cafe called New York and said to be the world's activity superstore best coffee shop. I googled the café before and the pictures to judge, it was very grand. High vaulted ceilings with gold and chairs were upholstered in red velvet. Just as nice was it to get into.
In the evening we ate at a quaint typical Hungarian restaurant called Gerlóczy. While we ate good food we enjoyed the music of a harp like an old man sat and played. That night we both slept very well.
Saturday came and we skipped the breakfast buffet to get to sleep a little activity superstore longer. We were still measured from yesterday's crash dinner. We would find the main shopping street, Váci utca. We walked and walked but failed to spot the right. We decided to go into a large three-story mall called the West End instead. Inside, it was filled by people! We looked at different shops, including an entire shop with jewelry and ornaments from Swarovzki. Everything glittered up in there! We also took a coffee at Starbucks.
After several hours inside the West end, we went away to the big station house to look for a taxi home. Now aching feet! Even here we got a taste of segregation. The entire station building was very old and very worn. It was dark and cold. At one end, we walked past a doorway where it shone. We peeked in and there was a really nice McDonald's! Guess where we were surprised. It was really cozy lighting, amazing activity superstore furnishings and it was almost chock-full of people. Outside it was dark, gray and cold and almost empty of people. Which contrasts! We went in and ate lunch out of pure fascination.
In the evening we gathered at the hotel and drove Christmas game. All had bought a opposite Christmas 2000 forints (which is about 68 Swedish crowns) earlier in the day that we competed. I managed to scoop two fine ornaments and a hat.
We took them all taxis to visit a restaurant called Dunacorso located right on the Danube River which divides the city into two parts: Buda and Pest. I got to see the big kedjebon and castle on the other side.
The dinner offered soup for starter, goose as main course and chocolate cake for dessert. For it drank until I get a glass of red and a dessert wine that was actually good. While we ate, played a jazz band various jazz tunes and that was how cozy anytime. When it was getting late, we sat that is more aesthetically exists and sang various Swedish carols and other restaurant guests looked on.
We trudged back to the hotel and mingled in the lobby. Stefan and Victor activity superstore occupied wing. Stefan played Somebody by Depeche Mode and I sang a duet with his wife Veronika. It really was the finishing touch to the evening. 02 The time I passed out in his hotel bed.
On Sunday we went to the thermal bath Szécsény. A great facility activity superstore that has 12 different pools with water from hot springs. The resort was really old - the whole 100 years old and was shaped like an oval with various heated outdoor pools in the middle. Here we splashed about half the day. Wonderfully activity superstore comfortable!
In Budapest there is really how much you like to see and we could only see a fraction of it all. I enjoyed it very nice with fun excursions and pleasant travel companion. Despite the gray and cold weather, we managed to get into an unforgettable journey. Maybe it will be a trip back sometime?
Florence says:
As announced! :-) Great pictures. It seems to be more the rule than the exception that old öststäder is just like that the contrast between worn and ugly and beautiful activity superstore and luxurious. New world meets old world as well.
